SciOly Coaching

Science Olympiad classes and coaching programs.

We coach students on specific events — not the whole competition. Every session is focused on the physics, engineering, or science content behind one event, so students leave understanding it deeply rather than just practicing it.

Questions

Common questions about SciOly coaching.

Which events do you coach?
We currently coach Trajectory, Scrambler, Elastic Launched Glider, Astronomy, Fermi Questions, and Experimental Design. See the events page for which ones have coaching availability marked.
When should a student start coaching?
September or October is ideal for students who know their events. If you're still deciding, a Season Planning Session in August or September helps you choose events and set a timeline before the season starts.
Do you work with Division B and Division C students?
Yes. Coaching sessions are adapted for division — the event rules, difficulty level, and competition format differ, and our coaching reflects that.
Can individual students sign up, or only full teams?
Individual students can sign up for any coaching program. Build event coaching works best with your actual competition partner (since you'll compete together), but study event coaching is often individual.
How many sessions does a typical student need?
For build events, most students do 4–8 sessions spread across the season — early sessions on physics and design, later sessions on calibration and data review. Study events vary widely by prior knowledge.
